The service provided care and support for children and their families, from birth to 18 years of age, through their health visiting, school nursing and family action support teams. We spoke to parents of children using the health visiting and family action support teams during this inspection.

There were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection. People told us that they had observed good practice in infection prevention and control.

People told us they were very satisfied with the service and had not made any complaints. There was an effective complaints system available and comments and complaints people made were responded to appropriately.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with relatives of seven people who received a service, however many services supported the parents as well as the children. The feedback we received was very positive people spoke highly of the service and praised the staff. One person told us, 'I could not have got through a very difficult time with out the support and care of the staff.' Another person told us, 'The staff are excellent.'

People felt safe as care plans were in place and followed by staff in order that people's needs were met. People told us, 'Staff ensure the families are fully involved in the care planning, delivery and any reviews.'

Staff received appropriate professional development. A training programme was in place to provide staff with the training and support they needed to maintain their qualifications. Staff told us the training was very good. They also said that if they identified a training course that would help them with their job, this was always considered by managers and they were usually able to attend.

The provider had an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people received. There was a complaints policy and staff took account of complaints and comments to improve the service
