All Inspections

11 March 2014

During an inspection in response to concerns

We undertook this responsive review because we received information of concern.

We were informed that staff did not receive practical training during the induction period, that it was all theory training. We were informed that a medicines issue had been reported to the registered manager but no action had been taken.

We were informed that staff were working from 7 am until 11 pm. We were informed staff duty rotas were only sent by text at 11 pm the night before for the following day.

We did not on this occasion talk to people who used the service. We attended the office and spoke with two members of staff. We looked at staff induction training records, duty rotas and undertook telephone surveys with four members of staff.

4 November 2013

During an inspection looking at part of the service

This was a follow up inspection to look at the recruitment processes for staff.

We found that the service undertook appropriate checks before staff began their employment. This included criminal records checks and references.

19 July 2013

During an inspection in response to concerns

We inspected Aims Homecare as we had concerns that the service was not following correct procedures that related to the care and welfare of people who used the service. This had been referred to us from Surrey County Council Social Services department and involved an incident in relation to one person who used the service. We were satisfied with the risk assessments that have taken place by the service in relation to this incident.

During our inspection we found that the service undertook appropriate assessments before people received care. People and relatives told us that they were happy with the care that they and their family members received.

We found that the service did not always undertake the appropriate checks needed before staff began their employment.

We saw from records that all staff had undertaken mandatory training. Staff that we spoke with told us that they felt supported by their manager.

We were shown that the service had undertaken a recent satisfaction survey. We found that the manager always asked people for their opinion of the service.

26 March 2013

During a routine inspection

At the time of our inspection the provider was delivering personal care services to sixteen people. The manager told us that the provider had been delivering personal care services to people since September 2012.

We discussed the service with the manager and spoke with two members of staff. We also visited the home of one person who received personal care delivered by the company. We spoke with this person and with one of their relatives.

We reviewed the records of four people and the files of four members of staff.

One member of staff told us "This is a good organisation. The management is very supportive. I have been well trained."

One person who the provider delivered services to told us "I am happy with my care."
