During an inspection looking at part of the service

There was no dental treatment taking place during our visit to the practice therefore it was not possible to talk to any patients at this time. However during our visit in January people told us that the treatment rooms were clean and that they had no concerns about hygiene.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with twelve people and three care home managers about their experiences of using this dentist practice. People told us that they were satisfied with the service received and staff were helpful. Comments included:

"They welcome you, you don't have to wait too long."

"No concerns, if I did would bring it to their attention."

"Can talk to them about my treatment."

"Staff are polite and helpful."

People who were very nervous about going to the dentist told us that the staff were very patient with them. Staff reassured them throughout their treatment, putting them at ease.

Information was available for people about services offered at the practice and how they could access emergency treatment if necessary.

People told us that the treatment rooms were clean and that they had no concerns about hygiene. During our visit, we found that the management of the prevention of cross infection and decontamination of instruments needed to be improved.
