During a routine inspection

We spoke with five patients attending for appointment during our inspection. Patients commented positively about their experience of the service. They told us that they had been fully involved in discussions with Mr Malas and other staff about the treatments available to them and any costs involved. We observed that staff were mindful of patient privacy. Patients told us that all consultations were conducted in the privacy of the surgery, and that dentists took time to explain their treatment and any options to them.

Patients we spoke with were very satisfied with the service and treatment they received. One patient told us "I needed an emergency appointment, I rang this morning and they fitted me straight in'. Two other patients told us that they travelled from another town for appointments 'we've always been very happy with the standard of care provided.'

We saw records that confirmed that all consultations were recorded and any treatment was consented to. Paper copies of patient declaration and treatment plans were kept in addition to electronic records.

The surgeries were clean, hygienic with appropriate dental equipment. We saw that the service followed the procedures and policies for infection control.

We looked at training records that showed that staff received the necessary training and skill development to help them perform their role safely and to a good standard.
