We spoke with two patients as part of our inspection and they told us they had been 'patients' for many years and had always been very happy with the standard of care provided. They also told us that although they had moved out of the area they still attended this practice, because they had confidence in the dentist and felt treatment was only undertaken when required and they were able to make the final decision about what and when treatment was provided.

We reviewed the policy for consent and found the provider did obtain people's consent appropriately and this was recorded on visit records. Treatment was discussed and people were offered treatment plans which were not always required by the patient. People were cared for in a clean hygienic environment. The provider had equipment and medication in place to ensure the safety and wellbeing of patients. There were arrangements in place to ensure vulnerable adults and children were protected. The practice did not employ staff directly, but commissioned dental nurses via an agency. The provider had quality monitoring procedures and audits in place to monitor the quality of the service.
