We spent time in the waiting area and observed staff to be polite and respectful towards people who used the service. People were offered a choice of appointment times to suit them. We spoke with six people who used the dental practice on the day of our visit. Their comments overall were positive. People told us their checks were thorough. One person told us although the checks were good they were quick. The dentist told us they took time to discuss the treatment options with people and always saw people if they were in pain. We saw people were given advice on how to care for their teeth and gums so that they were able to maintain good oral hygiene.
People told us that they had been involved in making decisions about their care and treatment options. They said they were given information that enabled them to make informed choices about their treatment.
People said they found the practice clean and hygienic. We saw the practice had some arrangements in place for the safe management of infection control.
There were satisfaction surveys in place to gain people's views on their experiences of the dental practice which included the quality of care and treatment provided. The provider acknowledged systems to assess and monitor the quality of service provision needed improvement.
