During a check to make sure that the improvements required had been made

Since our last inspection of January 2014 we have found that the provider has made the necessary improvements to meet the required standards of regulation.

All staff have had their identity confirmed and the provider now holds photographic identification evidence of staff in their personal files.

We reviewed all the documentation which the provider sent to us with regards to infection control. We have found that the provider has made the necessary changes and put in place policies and procedures which will ensure patients safety against cross infection and contamination.

During a routine inspection

We found that people felt that their individual needs were met. People said they felt safe, and appropriately cared for. People said that staff took time to keep them informed about their care and treatment. One person commented, 'Staff were friendly and helpful' another said 'They tailor everything to your individual needs'.

There were some potential risks regarding infection control, including how some equipment was stored and a lack of clarity about responsibilities for cleaning some clinical equipment.

Medicines were stored and managed safely and in line with legislation and good practice.

The recruitment and selection processes failed to ensure that all the information required by regulations were kept.

The medical centre had a quality assurance system in place to continuously monitor the quality of service people received. This helped them to maintain good standards of care.

People's comments and complaints were listened to and acted upon appropriately.

During a routine inspection

As part of our inspection we talked with people who used the service. They spoke positively about the staff and the care and treatment provided. They told us that staff treated them with respect. Comments included, 'Everything is done in private.' ' All the staff are very competent and treat me with great respect.' 'I am very confident in the staff here.'

People told us they were fully involved in planning their care and in making decisions about their treatment. They told us they had received sufficient information before and during their treatment. People said, 'I have never known such clear explanation about options for future treatment'. 'It was very reassuring to be told quickly what the problem was and to get immediate treatment.' 'An excellent service.' People told us they felt safe at all times during their visits to the medical centre.
