During a routine inspection

People said they were given choices in respect of their care and support. A staff member said, 'Relatives know the people well and they know if they genuinely agree or whether they are just saying yes to keep us happy.' A relative said they were fully involved in the management of care and they made sure their family member was happy to receive the care and support.

Care was planned and delivered in a way that protected people from unlawful discrimination. Care workers we spoke with had a good understanding of equality and diversity. One person who used the service said, 'I have had several care agencies during my time. Staff here are good. They respect me as a person. They do what I ask them to. They are friendly. I can't ask for more. I have no problems.'

There were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection. One person said, 'They wear gloves and wash their hands each time.'

A relative and a person who used the service said they were confident care workers knew how to use different equipment in a safe manner.

The manager and the provider had procedures to follow if they found staff who were no longer fit to work in health or social care.

One of the people who used the service said, 'Care workers can call one of the senior workers anytime. This is comforting. I feel happy they are not on their own.'

People had their comments and complaints listened to and acted on, without the fear that they would be discriminated against.

During an inspection looking at part of the service

The purpose of this review was to assess the improvements made since our last inspection. We did not request information directly from people using the service on this occasion. Overall, we found that the provider had taken sufficient action to address the shortfalls we had identified during our previous visit.

During a themed inspection looking at Domiciliary Care Services

At the time of undertaking this inspection the agency was supporting four people over the age of 65 years and one younger adult who wanted to retain their independence and continue living in their own home. We visited two people at their homes to obtain their views and the views of their relatives and to gather other information about their experience of the agency. In addition, we spoke with the nominated individual; the manager and with care workers.

People told us that care workers were, 'kind,' and,'respectful.' They thought that care workers were more often than not capable and knew what to do.

We were told people were involved in decision making for example about how their care should be delivered.

The people we spoke with said they were happy with the agency and the quality of care provided. No one had a copy of the complaints procedure but they knew who in the agency to contact for help if necessary.

One person commented on the quality of the care records kept at their home.
