During a routine inspection

Kingswood Healthcare Limited was providing a service to 31 people at the time of our inspection. We carried out telephone interviews with seven people and three relatives in order to gain their feedback about the service provided. We spoke with three staff and the deputy manager who was based at the office and who supported us with the inspection of this agency.

The people we spoke with confirmed their consent was obtained before staff provided any care and support.

People made positive comments about the support they received. One person said, 'The carers are very good and help me to get dressed. I am very satisfied.' Another person said, 'I am happy with everything they are wonderful.'

We found that systems were in place to support people to have their medication when they needed it.

We found that procedures were in place to ensure only suitable care workers were recruited.

There was a complaints procedure in place to enable people to share their concerns.

They had been involved in developing the support they wanted and their privacy, dignity and independence was respected. One person said, 'The staff are very good and I am very happy with what they do.' Another person told us, 'They provide the support I need them to and they always ask me what I want.'

We found that staff were clear about what action they would take if they became aware of an allegation of abuse. This ensured people were safeguarded from harm.

Staff we spoke with told us they felt supported by the management team. They confirmed they had regular training opportunities. This ensured staff were able to deliver care to an appropriate standard.

We found that systems were in place for assessing and monitoring the quality of service provided.

One person said," We choose Kingswood as they were able to provide staff to come in at times and frequency we needed". We were told that the agency was flexible. One relative told us that they were happy with staff who would stay longer if they needed them to.

They told us that staff consulted them about the care they needed and provided care in a way to meet their needs and capabilities. People told us "staff are kind and very caring and very respectful". People said, "I would definitely recommend them to others who needed care. Another relative told us, " I was very pleased with the care they gave my relative I have booked them again".
