The service should have quality checking systems to manage risks and assure the health, welfare and safety of people who receive care (outcome 16)

Meeting this standard

We checked that people who use this service

  • Benefit from safe quality care, treatment and support, due to effective decision making and the management of risks to their health, welfare and safety.

How this check was done

We reviewed all the information we hold about this provider, carried out a visit on 20/02/2012, observed how people were being cared for, looked at records of people who use services, talked to staff and talked to people who use services.

Our judgement

People were assured that the quality of their care was regularly monitored by the agency.

User experience

People told us that they were contacted regularly by the agency to discuss the support they received. People also told us that regular spot checks took place to make sure that carers were providing a good service and the support detailed in their care plan.

Other evidence

The manager told us that regular phone calls were made to people to check the quality of care and support they received. When we visited people in their own homes they told us that senior staff from the agency regularly called them. We suggested that the agency should keep a written record of these phone calls. People also told us they received an annual satisfaction survey.
