All Inspections

During a routine inspection

We spoke with a range of people about the agency. They included the owner/manager, staff, relatives and people who received a service. We also had responses from external agencies including social services. This helped us to gain a balanced overview of what people experienced using the agency.

During the inspection we looked at care planning, staff supervision and staff training records.

People who used the agency told us they provided a good service. Comments included, 'They are all wonderful and do over and above what they should do for me.'

People told us they had received a visit from the manager of the agency before the service commenced. This was to introduce themselves and carry out an initial assessment. They told us their needs had been discussed and they had agreed with the support to be provided. One relative spoken with said, 'I do live quite away from my aunt but they are continuously on the phone to me and keeping me informed.'

We found that there were enough skilled and experienced staff so that people had their care delivered at the right time, usually by the same people and in ways they wanted. One person who used the service said, 'They all seem very professional and well trained people.'

We spoke with Cheshire East council's contracts monitoring team, they confirmed there were no concerns with the service being provided by the agency.

During a routine inspection

When we carried out our unannounced inspection visit we had the opportunity to speak to two clients in their own home and a representative of another client.

One person told us that the initial assessment was very good and they said that, 'Home Instead asked what I wanted and what my needs were'. They also said they were 'nice people, we all get on together.' This person also told us they usually see the same care workers each visit and if a new person is sent they are introduced. They said the care workers were 'on time and do what is expected of them'.

We spoke to a representative for a person supported by the service and they told us that they had been 'very satisfied over a couple of years'.

A third person when asked if the service was good replied 'I should say they are', told us they got on 'like a house on fire' with their carers and 'enjoy their visits'.

We asked all of the people we spoke to if they had worries about the people who cared for them and no-one expressed any concern.
