During a routine inspection

We met with three service users and three members of staff. We noted that there was limited parking available but people did not tell us that this was a concern for them. People told us that they had been offered an appointment soon after the referral to the service and at a time that was convenient for them, with one person saying that they were "amazed" at how quickly they were seen. One person told us that staff had shown regard for their caring responsibilities.

We saw that the clinic was situated in an NHS outpatients clinic. It was in good decorative order and at the furnishings were basic but clean. There were toilets within the physiotherapy clinic and these were accessible to people in wheelchairs.

One person attending the clinic said that their treatment had "worked wonders" for them and another said that staff had taken the time to explain the process clearly. One person was being referred to another part of the service for specialist help and told us that they were in agreement with that plan. All people attending for appointments said that they were seen on time and had not been kept waiting.

Staff were observed to talk to people in a friendly; polite manner and professional manner. People receiving treatment said that they felt that they were treated with dignity and respect.

There were robust governance arrangements in place to ensure that quality and safety outcomes were reviewed and informed treatment and the care pathways.

During a routine inspection

During the visit we spoke to one patient who informed us that this was his second visit to the clinic. He said clinic staff were 'brilliant; the physiotherapists listen and his first appointment had been within a week of his GPs referral'. We were told that his initial consultation with the physiotherapist had included obtaining information about his previous injuries as well as a history of current problems.

This person said he had been given contact telephone numbers for a help line and for appointments. We were told that his physiotherapist had advised him of the process to follow should he wish to raise concerns and he felt confident that he could approach staff with any questions or concerns.
