During a routine inspection

Relatives' told us they were very happy with the support provided by the staff team. They were very positive about the service and made various comments such as:

'My relative is relaxed and happy and well looked after. I trust this company to do right by my relative' and 'I feel a lot more relaxed and at ease that my relative is getting well looked after. They seem to get on well with all the staff, they seem very happy.'

Relatives that we spoke with told us they liked all of the staff and used words such as 'Really happy with them' and 'All staff are lovely.'

Following our visit the manager had devised a detailed auditing tool which included checks on medication. Medication records had also been revised by the manager to improve guidance to staff regarding what to record when medications hadn't been given. These additional checks will help to show systems are in place to ensure that medications were safely administered; stored and effectively managed.

During a routine inspection

We spoke to one representative who acts on behalf of their relative who was provided with support from the service. They made overall positive comments about the service such as: 'We are happy with everything.' They advised they were very happy with the support and the management of the service.

We looked at a selection of support plans. The plans gave specific details and guidance about each persons individual needs regarding how they needed and wanted to be supported. They covered topics such as 'likes' and 'dislikes.' These plans were very individual and specific to the needs of each person's choices and requests.

The service had organised a 'service user survey' in 2012 to establish peoples opinions about the support provided to them. We looked at the summarised results which showed overall positive results with comments made such as: 'I feel very happy with Progressive Support and I like the staff' and 'Very happy with the service provided so far,,,.'

During an inspection looking at part of the service

We did not speak to people who used the service about this outcome.

We did not conduct a visit to this service, however we reviewed all the information we hold on this provider in July 2012.

The provider sent us a training matrix to show us what training the staff had undertaken since our last visit to the service and evidence of further training arranged.

We spoke with two staff who worked for the service and their comments included:

'I have worked for the service for three years. The training is very good, especially the person who delivered it he was really good.'

'The manager is very supportive. If I have any problems I just ring them up.'

'I enjoy my job very much.'

'I have completed safeguarding training so I know what actions to take.'

'My training is all up to date.'

'I love my job. The manager is very approachable and Carla (manager) is a lovely person. If I have any problems she is always there.'
