During a routine inspection

We spoke with two people who use the services and they all made positive comments about the service they received such as, "I am very happy with the care I receive and staff treat me well." and "It is an excellent service, I have a wonderful carer."

The people we spoke with told us their care plans were accurate and the support they received was of a high standard. They said staff arrived on time and were always friendly and professional in their approach. And a person using the service told us, 'I can always contact the office if I have any concerns but, I have never had a need to do so.'

We spoke with the assistant manager who demonstrated a good understanding of the support needs of people using the service and were able to clearly verbally demonstrate their understanding of staff responsibilities to keep people using the service safe from any suspected abuse. The assistant manager told us they were encouraged and supported to attend regular training and had regular supervision.

During a routine inspection

People expressed their views and were involved in making choices about their care. People we spoke with told us staff treated them with respect and supported them to make their own choices. In relation to personal care one person said the carers 'ask me what I want.' A relative told us 'they encourage my mother do as much for herself as possible.'

We spoke with staff and looked at people's care plans and found that peoples' needs were assessed, and care and support was planned and delivered in line with their individual needs.

People who used the service were protected from the risk of abuse, because the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening. People told us they trusted the staff and felt safe in their care. They told us they would be comfortable to raise any concerns with the provider and confident they would be effectively dealt with.

There were effective recruitment and selection processes in place to ensure that people using the service were cared for by suitably experienced and qualified staff.

People we spoke with told us the provider carried out regular reviews to monitor the quality of care they received from the service. Documentation we looked at showed feedback from users of the service and other stakeholders was acted upon to improve the service.
