All Inspections

During a routine inspection

All four people we spoke with said they were provided with information and received full explanations and advice on their care and treatment at Cambridge Park Hospital. They said they felt involved in the discussions and decisions made around their care. They told us they had no concerns about the doctors who were pleasant, friendly and professional.

We found that the service had auditing systems in place to ensure the clinical areas were kept clean and tidy.

People are given the opportunity to feedback on the service following treatment. The patient care co-ordinator contacts the people to follow up following surgery and check that they are happy with the care provided and if they had any concerns.

We found that there were effective recruitment processes in place and appropriate checks had been carried out.

During a routine inspection

At the time of our last inspection, in January 2012, the hospital was carrying out surgery but this was no longer being carried out here. People now attended this hospital for initial consultations with hospital staff about cosmetic and gastric procedures. They then had surgery at another hospital owned by the organisation and then returned here for after care appointments, including wound care.

During this inspection we visited the hospital on 13 December 2012 and then we spoke with the manager and people who had received a service by telephone on 31 December 2012.

The people we spoke with who had attended this hospital spoke highly of the staff and the service that they had received there. They said that they had received good information prior to their surgery and that the staff had answered all their questions. One person said that the staff were, "splendid, marvellous", and another said that the service was, "brilliant".

Staff who we spoke with were clear about their roles and responsibilities. They said that they received appropriate training and support to carry out their roles effectively. We saw care records which showed that people's consent was sought prior to treatment and that clear records were made of consultations and treatment that took place.

Staff received basic training which included training about safeguarding vulnerable adults. Staff were clear about their responsibility to take action if they were concerned about abuse of any type.

All of the people we spoke with were positive about their experiences as a patient with the hospital. They told us that they had the right amount of information to make decisions about their care and treatment. They said that their care and treatment needs were safely met and had met their expectations. They also told us that they felt, "Safe" because the staff had treated and supported them in a way that had reduced their anxieties about their care and treatment.
