During a routine inspection

People were supported by staff who were experienced and skilled in managing people who presented behaviours that challenged. Staff felt well supported and were provided with training opportunities to help them support the complex needs of the people who live in the home.

People had been involved in planning their care and treatment, were supported to take part in activities in the local community and had the opportunity to make their needs known.

The home was clean and staff knew how to minimise the spread of any infection.

During a routine inspection

Some of the people who used this service had limited verbal communication and therefore were not able to tell us directly about their experiences of the service.

People told us that they had been involved in preparations for Christmas. One person told us that they had written a Christmas list. Another person told us that they had chosen the decorations for the Christmas tree and helped to put them on.

One person told us that they liked to go outside and play football with members of the care staff team.

When we commented to one person that their bedroom was large and comfortable, they smiled at us, indicating that they were very pleased with their room.
