During an inspection in response to concerns

This review included a visit to the service and was carried out in response to information of concern being received by CQC and the local County Council. The local County Council investigated these concerns and they were not substantiated.

The service has been found by CQC however to not have adequate arrangements in place to protect people from abuse or harm.

Some people using the service told us that they liked living at Three Ashes and that they would not want to move as they considered it their home now.

We witnessed some good interactions between staff and people they were caring for but also identified shortfalls, that if not addressed, could have a significant impact on the health, welfare and safety of people.

There was no appropriate manager in position and the person responsible for supervising the regulated activity for which the service was registered for by CQC did not have the appropriate level of skill or experience to carry out this role. The service had therefore received significant support in order to protect people from unsafe or inappropriate care and treatment.

During a routine inspection

Although a few people told us about some concerns they have about living at the home, they also said that they would not want to live anywhere else.

Another person did not express any concerns and said "you could not find a better place to live".

All service users spoke to said that they felt well cared for by the care staff.

They told us that all care staff were kind and supportive.

A few made comment about not feeling confident in expressing a view or making a suggestion about the service in front of the provider as their comments have caused a negative reaction in the past.

They said they felt able to share their thoughts and concerns with the registered manager.

They told us they enjoy the food that is provided, but there were mixed comments about the activities available.
