During a routine inspection

People who use the service were given appropriate information and support regarding their care or treatment. We spoke with people who used the service and their families and they told us they got appropriate amounts of information about their treatment and that staff told people what they were doing whilst they treated them. We looked at the results of patient feedback questionnaires (59 responses) gathered from November 2012 onwards. 100% of respondents said that the dentist listened to them. The majority of people also said that the cost of treatment was fully explained to them.

The people we spoke with described the service as "perfect" and praised the quality of care and treatment they received. In the patient feedback 100% of respondents said they felt confident about the quality of treatment and that they would recommend the practice to others. Staff had been trained in what to do in the event of a medical emergency.

There were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection. On the day of the inspection the practice was clean and tidy.

Staff received appropriate professional development. They undertook mandatory training in appropriate topics such as Basic Life Support and Infection Control, as well as further training specific to the treatments and services provided at the practice.

The provider had an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people receive.
