All Inspections

During an inspection looking at part of the service

The purpose of this inspection was to follow up the progress the provider had made to address the areas of non compliance and good practice suggestions made following the first inspection. As part of this inspection we did not speak with people using the service as we had already gained their views in the earlier inspection and people had told us they were very satisfied with their care and treatment.

At this inspection we found that the provider had made all the necessary improvements and was complying with essential standards for quality and safety.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with five people who used the service during the inspection. We also spoke with the dentist, receptionist and the dental nurse. We inspected a number of records and observed how people were treated and how information was provided to them. We inspected the premises.

Two people told us they had joined the practice because of the good reputation it had in the community. One person said they had previously been a very nervous but had been reassured by the dentists' manner and praised their clinical skills saying 'I have never felt an injection.' Another person told us they had a medical condition which could affect their treatment. They told us the dentist had done some research to ensure they were able to provide treatment safely as it was a rare condition. One person told us 'I don't feel pressure to have treatment here.'

The practice involved and consulted people about their treatment. Information provided to people, such as practice leaflets enabled them to make informed choices about their treatment.

We identified a number of shortfalls in relation to staff recruitment practices, records and infection control due to the limitations of the environment, but did not identify any immediate risks to people because of it.
