Overview

Inspection carried out on 27 August 2013

During a routine inspection

During our visit we met with the registered manager, Dr Satinder Dhami. We spoke with three members of staff. We spoke with 6 patients and looked at five patient records.

All of the patients we spoke with were happy with the dental treatment they received. One patient told us he [one of the dentists] is lovely. He talks to you for ages before he does what he needs to do. He calms you down. Another patient said they are a very good example of how a practice should be run. Patients told us they were involved in making decisions about their treatment and that options had been explained to them. We looked at patient records which confirmed this.

Patients we spoke with told us the practice was always clean and tidy; very nice and clean. The practice operated processes, and followed procedures, that minimised the risk and spread of infection because current guidelines were followed.

Staff told us they were supported to carry out their roles. The registered manager told us that the practice had a philosophy of mentoring staff. We saw that staff received training specific to their job, that they received an annual review of their performance and had personal development plans.

The practice had systems in place to seek and act on patient feedback and carried out audits to monitor clinical quality.
