During an inspection looking at part of the service

We had previously inspected this dental practice in August 2013. We found some concerns in relation to infection control and the pre-employment checks conducted on staff at the practice.

Following our inspection the provider sent us an Action Plan that identified the action they would take to address the concerns.

When we revisited the practice in June 2014 we found that the provider had made appropriate improvements and changes to their infection control processes.

We reviewed some of the staff files and saw that appropriate checks had been undertaken with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The provider had also updated their staffing policies to include DBS checks as part of their formal recruitment process.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with people who use the service and they told us that they were happy with the service provided at the practice. One person told us that they like the continuity of care at the practice and that staff were friendly and accommodating. Another person told us that that the dentist talked through any problems with their teeth with them and the different ways in which they could be treated. This made the person feel like they were able to make decisions on their own treatment. We found some concerns in relation to infection control and the checks conducted on staff at the practice.
