During a routine inspection

During the visit we spoke with two parents who had accompanied their children whilst receiving treatment at Stratford Orthodontic Centre. Both parents said that they had used this service on previous occasions for siblings of the child who was receiving treatment. We were told they had been happy with the care and treatment their children had and were receiving at Stratford Orthodontic Centre. They both described their experiences as 'brilliant!' One parent said she 'felt confident in the surgeon's ability.'

Both parents said they had understood the care and treatment choices offered as 'the dentist had explained the proposed treatments'. We were told appropriate information and support had been provided prior to the treatment taking place, for example: verbal and paper information relating to dental care and caring for braces. One parent said she had been shown the proposed procedure on a dummy before the treatment had taken place and her daughter had been given a choice of colour bands to use. The other parent said she had been told to ring the surgery should an emergency situation arise.

One parent said she had signed a consent form at the first consultation. Both parents said that they had been asked for their child's health history and whether the child had been taking medication.

We were told by both parents should there be a problem the problem would be 'put right immediately'.
