All Inspections

During an inspection looking at part of the service

We carried out this inspection to check that the provider had made the required improvements following our last inspection.

Our last inspection of 3 June 2013 found that the provider did not have effective management systems in place to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that patients receive.

At this inspection we found effective systems were in place which provided evidence of quality assurance processes completed by the practice.

The practice had also introduced patient survey forms which enabled people to comment on the service received and suggest improvements if they wanted to.

We saw that people had commented positively upon many aspects of the service including staff and the facilities. One person commented 'The staff are friendly and welcoming'.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with four patients who told us they were happy with the service provided. Patients told us they were very satisfied with the practice. They said they never had to wait long for appointments and in an emergency, they had always been seen on the same day.

One patient said 'We have been coming here for years, it is a good practice, I would recommend them without hesitation'. Another person told us 'Although the surgery is busy, I have never had a problem ringing up for an appointment'.

Patients said their treatment plans were always explained and discussed with them, including choices about various treatments and costs. Patients told us that the practice was always clean, and all the staff were friendly and welcoming.

We found that the provider did not have an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that patients receive. We also found that some of the equipment fitted in the treatment rooms did not comply with current Department of Health Technical Memorandum guidance.
