All Inspections

12 February 2013

During a routine inspection

We spoke with five people who told us they were involved in discussions about their care and treatment. One person said they did not feel under any pressure to agree to any specific course of treatment. "I was given options and information and allowed to make up my own mind." A parent told us their children were not at all afraid of coming to see the dentist, "which made things easier for me and my wife." All of the people we spoke with were positive about the standard of dental care they received.

We found there were not always records available to show the full employment history of staff or explanations for any gaps in employment. Two references were not always in place which meant it was not possible to confirm a person's previous employment had been satisfactory. There were not health declarations of checks in place in every case.

We saw records for the maintenance and routine checking of sterilising, disinfecting and cleaning equipment. This showed equipment was tested and maintained effectively in order to protect people using the service from avoidable risks of infection.

We saw three patient satisfaction questionnaires which had been completed. There were questionnaires available in the reception area for people to complete if they chose to. This showed people who used the service, their representatives and staff were asked for their views about their care and treatment.
