During a routine inspection

We spoke with two people who used the service. They were both satisfied with the care and treatment they received and how it was delivered. One person told us, "I've been coming here since it opened. My dentist is very good and explains everything". Another person said, "I can't fault it really. The place is very clean and the staff are all friendly and helpful".

We saw that people's privacy, dignity and independence were respected. People's views and experiences were taken into account in the way the service was provided and delivered in relation to their care. We noted people's verbal and written consent was obtained before care and treatment was undertaken. We observed that the care given was safe and appropriate. Care and treatment was planned and delivered in a way that was intended to ensure people's safety and welfare. There were arrangements and equipment in place to deal with foreseeable emergencies. We saw that there were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection. We noted staff received appropriate professional development and were offered training relevant to the needs of the people they were treating. We also found that systems were in place for people and relatives to make a complaint about the service if necessary and that these were handled in a timely and satisfactory manner.

During a routine inspection

We weren't able to speak to many people using the service because they were receiving treatment. We gathered evidence of people's experience of the service by reviewing patient satisfaction survey feedback and a review of complaints. We found comments that were positive about the service, treatment and the friendliness of the staff. For example,

'Been a patient here for many years and find the service excellent and the staff are always friendly and helpful.'

'All staff very friendly and the practice is always clean.'

'Overall this practice is best in town. Clean, friendly and eager to please. Recommend it every time.'

We found negative comments from people about waiting for a follow up appointment and wanting more information about the effects of treatment.
