All Inspections

During a check to make sure that the improvements required had been made

We found that the provider had taken suitable action since the last inspection to ensure that children and vulnerable adults were safe from abuse. New policies had been written to inform staff of the guidelines they should follow and staff training had ensured that staff were aware of their responsibilities to protect children and vulnerable adults from harm.

14 February 2013

During a routine inspection

During our inspection on the 14 February 2013 people we spoke with told us they were very pleased with their care and treatment and had confidence in the dentist. They told us they had been involved and included in their care and treatment planning and had made choices about which treatment options they preferred. One person said, "The dentist is great. I am completely happy with all the treatment I have received from them".

Care records showed that treatment had been recorded at each appointment that people had attended.

Safeguarding arrangements were weak. Not all staff had received training for safeguarding children and no staff had received training for safeguarding vulnerable adults. The safeguarding policy for children did not refer to which guidelines the provider was following and there was not a safeguarding policy for vulnerable adults.

We found that relevant Department of Health infection control guidelines had been adhered to which meant that people were safe from the risks of cross infection.

The premises were worn and tired looking and were in need of redecoration and some refurbishment.

The fire safety arrangements had been maintained and managed to a safe working order.
