During a routine inspection

People's needs had been assessed and care and support was planned and delivered in line with their individual care plan. The expert by experience told us, 'Everybody I asked understood why they were at Harehills. They said they were treated with respect and felt they were being helped in their recovery. Things were explained to them clearly and they were consulted about any changes in treatment, medication or arrangements generally."

There were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection. Staff said they had been told what measures they should take to prevent the spread of infection. The expert by experience told us, 'I called into a number of bathrooms and toilets. All were spotless and had obviously been cleaned that morning.'

People were cared for, or supported by, suitably qualified, skilled and experienced staff. Appropriate checks were undertaken before staff began work.

People were cared for by staff who were supported to deliver care and treatment safely and to an appropriate standard. Staff had received the training they needed to provide people with safe care which met their needs.

People were made aware of the complaints system. This was provided in a format that met their needs.
