During a routine inspection

People told us they were 'happy and liked living at Nowell Cottage'. People were treated very much as part of the family and were also part of the owner's extended family. This had been the case for 26 years and there was no intention to admit any other people. People were involved in all the day to day decisions within the home. Care plans reflected people's needs and wishes and were periodically updated. People told us they liked the food and what to eat was decided each day. People's medicines were handled safely by the owners. People were happy with their rooms. The home was very homely and appropriately maintained. There were good communal facilities which people enjoyed using. People confirmed the home was always clean and tidy. The owners undertake all the support and no staff were employed. People told us the owners were kind. Records were maintained and stored safely.
