All Inspections

24 September 2012

During a routine inspection

We carried out a routine/scheduled inspection of this service. We visited the office and

spoke to the manager. Care workers also came to the office to meet with us. From the office we contacted people that received a service from this agency and also spoke to relatives of people that received a service. We asked people about their experiences of the support they received from the service.

At the time of this inspection the agency was providing personal care to four people who wished to retain their independence and continue living in their own home. Due to the degree of people's disabilities we were only able to speak to one person who was receiving personal care. We were able to speak to the relatives of three other people who were receiving care.

Everyone spoke positively about the care workers and felt that they fully supported their care needs. Without exception, people said that all the care workers spoke to people in a professional and respectful way. People and relatives we spoke with told us that the care was personalised to individual needs. In all cases, people were happy with the care workers and said that the care workers adapted very well when changes were made to the care they required.

We contacted Sheffield Local Authority Contract and Commissioning Department and they told us that they had no issues with the service they received from Spectrum Social Care.

We spoke with three relatives of people that received care. They confirmed they had been involved in discussing and reviewing the care of their loved one with a supervisor from the agency. Relatives of people receiving care felt that staff were well trained and understood their family members needs.

Relatives told us that they believed that their family member was 'very safe' when receiving care from the care workers. All relatives said they would speak to somebody from the office if they had any worries or concerns.
