During a routine inspection

We spoke with the provider, manager and two staff as part of this visit. We also spoke with three relatives, to ask for their views about the service. We met with one of the people who used the service and contacted the local authority's safeguarding team for information.

We received positive feedback about the quality of care provided by the service. Comments included 'It's lovely here, I can't fault it,' 'Staff are passionate about care,' 'Staff are brilliant' and 'No concerns whatsoever, we're treated like family.' People said support was provided when they needed it and to suit their preferences. One person told us 'All the staff are kind.'

We found people received effective care. Care plans outlined the support people needed. We saw risk assessments had been written to reduce or control the potential for people to experience harm.

The provider had taken steps to protect people from the risk of abuse. There were safeguarding procedures in place and staff had undertaken training on protecting vulnerable adults from abuse. Neither the Care Quality Commission nor the local authority were aware of any current or recent safeguarding concerns for this service.

There were enough staff to support people. Staff said they had enough time allocated to support people effectively. They told us people's support packages had been increased where the service presented a case for more hours. This ensured people received the care and support they needed.

Staff records and other records relevant to the management of the service were accurate and fit for purpose. For example, care plans, risk assessments and records of staff training. This protected people from the risks of unsafe or inappropriate care.
