During an inspection looking at part of the service

We revisited Trinity Close on 11 January 2012. We did not talk with any of the people that were supported at Trinity Close as they were all leaving or had left for their activities or day centres. We looked at the improvements made to the support plans for people who lived at Trinity Close, and talked with members of the staff team.

We found that the support plans had been rewritten and updated and captured the needs of the people living at Trinity Close. The risk assessments had also been rationalised and updated. They were mostly relevant to the risks that the person might be faced with in their daily life.

We did see that some of the support plans where a risk was identified did not clearly lead to an associated risk assessment. A few risk assessments had not been rated in terms of the level of risk that the person faced. Some of the risk assessments were also not signed or dated. One risk assessment detailed a medication that should accompany a person in the community, even though the person was no longer taking this medication.

We found the service complaint but in order to maintain this, require some improvements to be made.

12 October 2011

During a routine inspection

We visited Trinity Close on 12 October 2011 and spent the day at the service with staff and people who live there. We met three of the four people who live at Trinity Close; the fourth was out at a day centre while we were there. We also met and spoke with five members of staff, including the manager of the service.

Trinity Close is a residential home for four people who may have learning disabilities, mental health problems or profound physical needs. Each person has their own bedroom, which has been decorated with some of their own possessions and their preferred colour scheme. Each person also shares the communal lounge/dining room, the kitchen, and had use of the new sensory room. This room was recently completed with a grant from the National Lottery.

We found that people living at Trinity Close are cared for by members of the staff team who know them well and treat them with kindness, dignity and respect. Each person takes part in various daily activities with which members of staff support them. Members of staff also know their responsibilities as regards keeping people safe and have been trained and supported to carry out their roles effectively.

We looked at the care plan records for people living at Trinity Close. Although the care plans contain some good information about the person living at the service, some of the information has not been updated recently and, it was agreed, is no longer valid.
