During a routine inspection

We spoke with people who use the service and they told us that their relatives were 'closely involved in my progress and often read the care records and speak to staff each time they visit so that they know what is going on'. We spoke to some relatives who told us that they visit regularly and get good feedback from staff about their mother's progress. They told us that they are involved in reviews and have signed care records to confirm this. People were complimentary about the staff, telling us that they are kind and polite and that they have everything they need. Some people like to spend time on their own in their rooms and they feel that staff respect this as there is no pressure to join in activities if they prefer not to. Resident meeting are held regularly and people told us they mostly get what they request unless there is a good reason why not and this will be fed back to them.

People who use the service told us that staff were very kind and that they could not fault them in any way. They also told us that they knew who their key worker was. We asked people who use the service about the food and they told us 'its very good and the portions are plenty big enough'.

Risk assessments are undertaken however these are not always continuously reviewed to determine on ongoing need or risk. Assessment and review of people's ability to self administering medication must be in line with Royal Pharmaceutical Society guidelines.
