Our judgement

Richford Gate ensures that the people who use the services are protected from abuse, or the risk of abuse, and their human rights are respected and upheld. All staff have completed training in safeguarding, Understanding Capacity and Depravation of liberties.

Overall, we found that Richard Gate was meeting this essential standard.

User experience

We spoke to people who told us that they would talk to staff if they were unhappy about anything. One person told us that they would go to the head office if they were unhappy with anything.

Other evidence

Richford Gate has safeguarding procedures in place and there is evidence that staff know how to identify, report and act on any potential safeguarding alerts. Staff are experienced in handling people with challenging behaviour. They explained what they would do if someone presented with this behaviour, whilst ensuring the safety of everyone.

Staff are aware and have reported statutory notifications when necessary and work with other services when necessary.

Staff sleep in at the home and reported that they feel safe working there.
