During an inspection in response to concerns

The home cares for people who have a dementia. Many of the people who live at Murley House were unable to fully express their views about the service which they received.

We visited the home once during the day and once during the evening. On both visits there was a calm, relaxed atmosphere with people appearing to be well cared for. We observed that people seemed to be comfortable and at ease with the staff who supported them. One person said 'This is a nice place. I am well looked after.'

We observed lunch being served and eaten in two areas of the home. We saw that staff assisted people to eat in a patient and kind manner. We saw that one carer spoke very gently while encouraging someone to eat. We heard one person say 'Looks lovely, delicious food' 'You are a darling. 'a sweetheart. Thank you.'

There are events and activities organised in the home however it is not always clear how these reflect peoples' individual preferences and interests.

We could see that people were able to see healthcare professionals when they needed to.

No one living at the home expressed any concerns about equipment in the home or the comfort of furnishings. People able to express an opinion said that they were contented in the home.

During an inspection in response to concerns

There are a number of people who live at Murley House who have a diagnosis of a dementia. Some people were able to express their views clearly, others could not. We observed that people appeared clean and well presented. We observed that there were no meaningful activities available for people on the morning of the visit. One person who was able to express an opinion told us 'There is nothing for me here. '

We met with three relatives of people living at the service. They were pleased with the care provided.

One person told us that his father's care 'outstanding' and that staff were 'all wonderful.'
