During a routine inspection

We visited four people in their own homes. Three people were able to tell us that they were always asked for their consent before staff provided them with care and support. Comments included, "They always ask before they do anything" and "The girls always check if I need them to do anything else for me."

People told us they were provided with a good service which was reliable and met their needs. They said, "The staff are great" and I'm very happy with the whole thing."

We viewed the care records for five people and found that care needs were assessed, planned and delivered in a way which met people's individual needs.

The provider had systems in place to help protect people from abuse and to prevent abuse happening.

There was a recruitment and selection system in place to ensure honest and reliable staff were employed by the service.

We found the provider had systems in place to assess and monitor the quality of the service. People told us they felt confident to discuss any concerns they had with the manager and staff.

During a routine inspection

We found there were arrangements for involving people in planning their care. We saw people were treated with dignity and respect. We spoke with five people who lived at Linskill Park, and two visiting relatives. We were not able to get detailed comments from everyone due to people's needs, however, people confirmed they were treated well. Staff promoted people's dignity and independence.

People received the care and support they needed, and people said they were happy with this. One person told us, 'We get the help we need.' Another said, 'I did use my pendant (alarm call) once. When I did use it the service was A1, the carers were straight up asking if I was all right.' A further comment was, 'It was like a lottery win moving here.' Records relating to people's care were up to date, accurate and held securely meaning confidential information was held securely.

We found people were supported to manage their medicines safely. People told us they were happy with the support they received and always had their medicine stocks available. For example one person said, 'We get medicines help. The carer comes in the evening, smack on time, five minutes either way.'

Staff were polite, courteous and appropriately qualified. People made positive comments about the staff, and the comments we heard included, 'The carers are excellent, they've all been lovely.' Another person told us, 'The staff are all wonderful, from the cleaners to the management."

People spoken to who use the service said they were respected and involved in decisions about their care and support.1 person said it was like living in a "5 star hotel." They explained they ran their own life but knew staff were available if they needed them. They would arrange any doctor's appointments themselves and staff may help if required. They were very happy with the service provided. They liked the accommodation and the fact they had their own flats. They liked the building. They thought staff friendly and helpful. People knew there were some events organized for socializing but some people hoped there would be more events organized. They were aware it was still new and early days but they hoped there would be more opportunities for meeting other people who live in the scheme.
