During a routine inspection

In this report the name of two previously registered managers appear who were not in post and not managing the regulatory activities at this location at the time of the inspection. Their names appear because they were still registered managers on our register at the time.

We spoke with all of the people who used the service, two relatives and one visitor. People told us they were satisfied with the service they received. One person said, 'This is my home and I like it.'

We saw staff speaking and responding to people in a happy, gentle and respectful manner. We found records to show how people's needs had been assessed and plans put in place to support them. We saw that people were listened to and supported to remain as independent as possible.

The home had enough regularly maintained equipment to promote the independence and safety of people who used the service.

Staff told us that they felt supported within the service and had opportunities to develop their skills with additional training opportunities. One staff member said "I want to do some specialised training.' Another staff member told us, 'We all do mandatory training.'

The home had a complaints procedure and staff understood how it worked. There had not been any complaints during the inspection period, although we were confident that complaints would be followed up and actioned if appropriate.

Overall, we found that the provider kept accurate and appropriate records.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with two people who lived at 6 High Street and they told us that they liked living there. One person showed us their room and told us that he was happy with his room and happy with staff. He said he liked being able to spend time in his room when he liked but also to see other people if he wanted company. The other person we spoke with told us that he liked staff and that most of the time, everybody who lived there got on really well. He also said that he liked going out different places with staff. Both people thought that staff were helpful, supportive and encouraging.

During a routine inspection

We met with seven of the people living at the home and all told us how happy they were there. People said the staff were very good and knew what they were doing. They told us about their lifestyles and how they were encouraged to learn new skills. Some of the people told us about how they worked as volunteers and went out to courses. Others said they get to do all the things they want to be doing and that staff always help them.
