During a routine inspection

People we spoke with told us they were happy with the care and support they received. One person said, "I am devilishly happy here and I appreciate all that is done for me". Another person told us,' I like all the staff and the food is wonderful'.

People's needs were assessed and care and treatment was planned and delivered in line with their individual care plan. When asked, people said that they were supported and given the opportunity to make choices that suited them. We examined personnel records and found that staff had received training and there were enough staff to care for people and keep them safe. We observed interactions between staff and people to be sensitive and respectful when needed. People we spoke to said that staff were friendly and caring.

Staff we spoke with told us that they had been trained in safeguarding awareness and understood how to recognise abuse and how to report it. We were given examples where the service had been in contact and worked with the local safeguarding team on safeguarding issues. People we spoke to said they felt safe in the home.

During a routine inspection

People told us that the staff were very good and there seemed to be a genuine respect between everyone. Some people told us that they would like more money but acknowledged that they needed support to budget.

People told us that the home was comfortable and warm. We were told that the food was very good but that they did not get a choice. We were told 'you get what you are given' and 'the chef always made sure their favourite fruit was brought'.

People said they were happy with the level of support offered and that they were involved in making decisions about the things they felt were important in their lives.

Others told us that staff encouraged them to go on trips and holidays, and although encouraged, people said they never felt forced.

Relatives told us that they felt people were given the support they needed and had seen improvements in people's independence.
