How this check was done

Our judgement

Staff training ensures that careworkers understand and adhere to good practice in record keeping and records are held securely. On the basis of the evidence provided and the views of people using the service we found the service to be compliant with this outcome.

User experience

People who use the service were not able to give us any information about their records.

Other evidence

At induction, staff are given training about the principles of confidentiality. The training covers legislation and guidance in respect of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Data Protection Act 1998. The provider reported to us that records remain confidential. They are kept safe at all times and kept in locked cabinets in the office and archived into locked storage. During the visit we saw no confidential personal information on display in the office. We examined the storage facilities for records and found it was as described by the provider. We spoke to three staff and all were aware of their responsibilities on record management.
