Meeting this standard

We checked that people who use this service

  • Will have their medicines at the times they need them, and in a safe way.
  • Wherever possible will have information about the medicine being prescribed made available to them or others acting on their behalf.

How this check was done

Our judgement

Careworkers have received training to support with the administration of medication and understand the limit of their role. On the basis of the evidence provided and the views of people using the service we found the service to be compliant with this outcome.

User experience

We asked people who use the service whether staff advised them on medications and they confirmed that they did not.

Other evidence

The provider reported to us that all staff are trained on their policy of medicine management. They are shown how to complete medication recording sheet. They are also trained on how to handle medicines. All staff are told that it is not within their remit to advice people who use the services on the medications that they are taking. We spoke to staff who told us that they have been trained on medications management.
