During a routine inspection

This report shows Mrs Hazel Croft as a registered manager. We have been advised that Mrs Croft is no longer working at the service in this capacity. However, we have not received the necessary paperwork to cancel Mrs Croft's registration and therefore Mrs Croft's name is shown on our report. We have asked the provider to write to us to confirm that Mrs Croft is no longer employed by the service as a registered manager so we can update our records.

During our inspection, we spoke with 14 people who used the service, six people's relatives, four staff members and the registered manager.

The people and the relatives that we spoke with were happy with the care they received. One person said, 'I think this company is brilliant and trust them implicitly.' Another told us, 'Overall, I am very happy with the care I am receiving, they will always ask if there is anything else I need before they go.' A person's relative told us, 'We are very happy with the whole service, we feel X is safe and well cared for.'

People told us that they were treated with respect and that they and their relatives were involved in decisions about their care.

An assessment of people's needs had been carried out before they used the service. Risk assessments were in place to ensure that people's day to day living was safe.

The staff we spoke with were able to demonstrate a good knowledge of how to reduce the spread of infection when supporting people with their personal care needs.

The staff we spoke with told us that they felt supported and we saw that they had received sufficient training and supervision to provide safe care. The required checks on staff had taken place before they started working for the service to ensure that they were of good character.

The service regularly monitored the quality of the care and support they provided.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with five people who used the service who told us that they were consulted about the care they were provided with. One person said, 'They (care workers) always do what I want.'

People told us that the care workers treated them with respect. One person said, 'They (care workers) are always respectful. I have never met one that has treated me with disrespect.' Another person said, 'We have a good working relationship.'

People told us that they felt that the support they received from the service met their needs. One person said, 'I am absolutely happy with the care I get.' Another person said, 'I am very happy with the care they give.' Another said that the service was, 'Top of the lot.'

We looked at the care records of five people who used the service and found that people experienced care, treatment and support that met their needs and protected their rights.

In this report the name of a Registered Manager, Hazel Croft, appears who was not in post and not managing the regulatory activities at this location at the time of the inspection. Their name appears because they were still a Registered Manager on our register at the time.
