During an inspection looking at part of the service

This was a responsive review. Please see our previous reports for full comments.

We spoke with five members of staff, six people who used the service and one relative.

We saw evidence that the provider had recently pain amenity bills such as electricity and gas and that there was sufficient food and for people within the home.

People told us that that they liked living at the home. They told us that the building was always warm, there was plenty food and sufficient staff on duty.

30 January 2013

During a routine inspection

We spoke with eight people using the service, one relative, two staff and one visiting professional during the visit. We spoke by telephone with one relative and three visiting professionals following the visit.

People we spoke with and their families were generally positive about the care provided and praised the staff. They praised the staff describing them as caring and good. One person said 'I'm quite satisfied' and another told us 'I can't grumble about the way I'm looked after'. A relative said the service was 'on the ball with everything' and that they were very pleased with the way specific health issues were managed.

People we spoke with confirmed that they felt safe using the service and the relatives we spoke with told us they had no worries about the way care was provided.

We found that the premises were clean and tidy and were adequately maintained.

People were asked for their views about their care and treatment and they were acted on and there was a system in place to monitor the quality of the service.

During an inspection looking at part of the service

This was a focused visit to check if the compliance actions made following our previous visit in January 2011 had been addressed.

Therefore we did not speak to the majority of people using the service at this visit.

People that we did speak with confirmed that they remained happy with the support and services provided to them. They told us that they found the new manager approachable. One person told us, 'She's very good, what I really like is that she 'listens' and that makes all the difference'

People spoken with also confirmed that social events and activities had improved at the home, including trips out. From discussions it was evident that these trips were enjoyed.
