During a routine inspection

We spoke to one person who lived in the home and they told us that they were very happy there and the staff were very supportive.

We looked at the care plans and risk assessments for three people and saw that they were person centred and regularly reviewed and updated. We saw that risks were identified and managed accordingly.

We looked at the safety and suitability of the building and found that it was clean and well maintained.

We looked at the arrangements in place to manage complaints and saw that there was a clear complaints procedure and people knew how to make a complaint if they wanted to.

During an inspection looking at part of the service

Following our previous inspection on 5 March 2013, the service had given us an action plan to show us the improvements they were going to make to support staff more effectively.

We looked at the systems in place to support staff and saw that the improvements had been made and the staff had received an appraisal in the last three months and regular supervision and support was taking place.

We spoke to one member of staff who told us that they received regular support and supervision from their manager.

5 March 2013

During a routine inspection

During our visit we spoke to three people who lived in the home. They told us that they liked living at the home and that the care was very good. One said; "It's alright here - Staff are very helpful." Another person told us; "The care is excellent here. It's safe here and I'm content with the staff."

The staff we spoke to during our visit told us that they enjoyed working at the home because the standard of care was very good and that they had access to lots of training. They said that they were supported by the senior management team who were always available to offer advice and support. We were however concerned by the frequency of staff supervision and appraisal.

Our observations, documentation we reviewed and the people we spoke to assured us that the people who lived in the home were experiencing care and support to meet their needs.

11 November 2011

During a routine inspection

The people who were able to tell us directly about their care told us that they were being treated well by the staff members supporting them and that they were involved in all aspects of their care. Comments included, 'The staff are good', 'Staff are lovely'.

They also told us that they were happy living in the home. Comments included, 'I love living here', 'I am very happy here and the staff are fine'. They said they would tell the staff members if they had any concerns.

Cheshire East LINk visited the home in February 2011; they found that the people they spoke to appreciated the support they were receiving [The LINk is an independent network of people and organisations who want to improve health and social care services in East Cheshire, they visit homes and hospitals and produce a report].

Prior to our visit Cheshire East Council's contracting team they told us that they did not have any concerns about the home and no safeguarding referrals had been made to them.
