During a routine inspection

Before people received any care or treatment they were asked for their consent and the provider acted in accordance with their wishes. A person who used the service said, 'I make all my own decisions. If I need help, staff ask if it's okay if they help me.'

Peoples' needs had been assessed and care and support was planned and delivered in line with their individual care plan. Relatives of people who used the service told us they were very satisfied with the care and support their family members received. One relative said, 'We looked at a number of different providers and Equal Partnerships was by far the best provider. When my son was born, I couldn't have imagined that his life would be as good as it is now.'

There were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection. Staff reported they had been told what measures they should take to prevent the spread of infections in people's homes. They said they had access to the personal protective equipment they needed to keep themselves safe, and they had received appropriate training as part of their induction.

People were cared for, or supported by, suitably qualified, skilled and experienced staff. Appropriate checks were undertaken before staff began work.

People were made aware of the complaints system. People who used the service, and their families, told us they had been made aware of the provider's complaints procedure and knew how to make a complaint.

During a routine inspection

We used a number of different methods to help us understand the experiences of people using the service.

We observed care, spoke to three people who use the service, spoke to three relatives and three members of staff. We also reviewed three care records for people using the service.

People using the service told us they were happy at the home and with the care provided.

A relative told us 'The staff are amazing. They work round anything'. One person who uses the service said 'This is like a home from home.'
