All Inspections

During a routine inspection

People who use the service generally provided positive comments in response to our questions. We were told that staff perform the activities that they are required to do, such as assisting with personal care, checking if medication has been taken, washing up or the provision of the evening meal. One respondent indicated that the bed had not always been made correctly, though this matter had not been raised with staff.

When staff have been late because of traffic or they have been delayed with the previous home visit, the staff member has apologised for this. One respondent advised that where a concern had to be raised about the scheduling of times staff would attend his home, that this matter was satisfactorily resolved. Information has since been made available to him of the times that staff will be attending his home.

We asked if people who use the service if they received continuity of care by the same staff representatives, we were informed by the majority, that it is the same team of staff who generally provided the care. One respondent advised that whilst the staff are all very nice, that she did not have the same staff attending her routinely.

The local authority advised us that they had been called upon to assist in the provision of staff on some shifts because of limited staff availability.

People who were using the service at the time of our visit advised us that they were involved in decisions about their care, and that these decisions may have involved a member of their family. Respondents indicated that their independence had been encouraged by the staff and that staff refer to documentation held in their home to guide them in carrying out care. The staff members attending have been seen updating this information prior to leaving the home.
