We spoke with five people who were provided with support from the service and two relatives. They made overall positive comments about the service such as;

'Everything's ok'; 'Generally everything's ok however when it's snowing we have the odd hiccup, all in all it works quite well';' Very happy with the service'; 'I like my carers they are very kind and efficient, they call regularly and on the whole at the right time ' and 'They are lovely girls.' Relatives and people being supported told us that they had no concerns about the support provided by Allied Healthcare Wigan.

We looked at how they managed and audited complaints. There had been eight complaints recently which had been reviewed and responded to by the manager. This ensured that concerns raised were fully investigated and responded to. The manager advised they would sometimes go to visit a person receiving support if they had any concerns so they could discuss what they could do to resolve their queries and concerns.

During our visit staff training was in progress to help train and update staff in care planning and risk assessments. We noted in some training records that staff had been supported with complex and individualised training including the care of feeding tubes (peg tubes.) This level of training helped to show how staff were supported in meeting the diverse needs of the people they were supporting and caring for.
