During a routine inspection

We spoke with five people who used the service. They told us that they felt that the support they received from the service met their needs. One person said, 'I am quite happy with the way things are, with Allied and the carers.' Another person said, 'I am very satisfied with the care I get.'

People told us that they were consulted about the care they were provided with. One person said, 'They (care workers) always do what I ask them to do.' Another person said, 'Before the carers leave they always ask me if there is anything else they can do for me.'

People told us that the care workers treated them with respect. We asked one person if they felt the care workers treated them with respect and they answered, 'Oh yes, very much so.' Another person said, 'They (care workers) are very, very good. They are exceptionally kind.'

We looked at the care records of five people who used the service and found that people experienced care, treatment and support that met their needs and protected their rights.

During a routine inspection

We undertook a random inspection of the service 24 May 2010, which included a visit to the agency premises and we sent surveys to people who used the agency and eight were returned to us. The service user survey asked if the care workers listened to them and acted on what they said, two answered always, five answered usually and one answered sometimes. The survey asked if their privacy and dignity was respected, six answered always and two answered usually. The service user surveys that we sent to people asked if their care plan matched with what they wanted from the service and if their care plan was flexible, two answered always, three answered usually, two said that they did not know and one did not answer'.
