All Inspections

29 January and 6 February 2014

During a routine inspection

Our inspection consisted of a visit to the Allied Healthcare Basildon office on 29 January 2014 and telephone calls to people who used the service on week commencing 03 February 2014. People who used the service and/or those acting on their behalf told us that they were very happy with the care and support provided by staff and that their care and support needs were met. Comments included, "The girls are lovely, they are so kind," "The care I receive is really good" and, "I am happy with the support my relative receives."

Records viewed showed that support plans covered all aspects of a person's individual circumstances. The provider had appropriate arrangements in place to ensure that staff were recruited appropriately and that there were sufficient numbers of staff available to meet the provider's business needs. We found that the management of medicines within the service was good and people were kept safe. We also found that there were effective systems in place to assess and monitor the quality of the service provided.

During a routine inspection

People's views and experiences were taken into account in the way the service was provided and delivered in relation to their care and their privacy, dignity and independence were respected.

People using the service received care and support that met their individual needs and they were protected from the risk of abuse. We saw from records that people received care from well trained staff who are supported and supervised in their role.

There were risk management and quality improvement systems in place, further developments are needed as there were inconsistencies in collating and monitoring outcomes to fully demonstrate risk management practices.

People we spoke with who use the service were complimentary about the staff and that the standards of service were good. They told us that if they raised any concerns about the care the organisation were quick to respond and make any necessary changes. One person said 'the staff are caring and always ask me what I need' another person told us ' they are helpful and nothing is too much trouble'.

9 March and 26 May 2011

During a routine inspection

We spoke with four people about their experiences of receiving care from Allied Healthcare Basildon. They all confirmed they had been involved in the assessment process and their care needs had been discussed with them. They had also been involved in the decision on how they wanted their care provided. Comments we received included 'I have regular carers and I get on very well with them', 'Very impressed with the staff' and 'They are marvellous.' Feedback from a recent quality assurance report completed by the provider in February 2011 stated that people who use the service received regular care workers, carers were reliable and they found carers to be polite and friendly. Overall all of those who responded were happy with the service they received from Allied Healthcare Basildon.

People with whom we spoke did not raise any concerns about the care they received from staff. Comments seen in the provider's quality assurance report included 'It is reassuring that there is someone to care and show kindness and consideration', 'I appreciate your kindness and consideration' and 'Thank you for the understanding helpful way you guided us through the care plan.' Others added 'Very impressed with the staff', 'Quite happy with the service' and 'Overall very, very pleased.'
