All Inspections

During a routine inspection

We spoke with five people who use the service and the relative of another person who uses the service. We also spoke to five staff members.

We found that people's privacy, dignity and independence were respected. One person told us they are always treated with respect, and 'the carers are helpful, reliable, and make you feel wanted.'

We found people experienced care, treatment and support that met their needs and protected their rights. One person told us 'the carers are very good. They are always polite, and will have a laugh and a joke with me. They will do anything for me. I can not complain.' We found peoples' care needs had been thoroughly assessed and care was delivered in a way that met peoples' needs and ensured their safety and welfare.

People were protected from the risk of abuse, staff knew how to raise any concerns. We found that staff had received relevant training for their job. Staff were supported in their work and were confident that they were able to provide the care required.

We found that the provider gathered peoples' views about the care and service they receive periodically during the year.

31 October 2011

During a routine inspection

As part of this inspection we spoke by telephone to seven people who were supported by the Homecare Service. All of the people we spoke to were very positive about the staff who provided support and care, and said they had good relations with the agency's office based coordinator and management staff.

They told us 'I get the support I need as I need it and the carers work hard to maintain my dignity in every way', that 'they always provide a friendly and reliable service', that 'they work so hard and I never have to remind them what to do they just get on with things' and that 'I had to explain things to one of the team when she was new but now she always asks if everything is OK'. We were also told about the flexibility of the arrangements being made and how the agency was responsive to requests to change things.

Patterns of care delivery worked well for the people being supported. A very small number commented on the high numbers of staff supporting them but not that this was a particular problem. Nobody expressed any major concerns with the timekeeping aspects of the service.
