All Inspections

During a check to make sure that the improvements required had been made

We found that the provider had undertaken a survey for feedback about the home from people who use the service, relatives, staff and visitors. Appropriate actions had been taken where suggestions to improve the service provided had been made.

A detailed action plan was provided which outlined the historical maintenance issues with the home and the dates by which they had been rectified or were planned to be addressed.

14 October 2013

During a routine inspection

There were 11 people living in the home at the time of the visit. We spoke to four residents and seven staff. One person said they felt "very lucky" to live there. Staff were described as "fair" "kind" and "very helpful". One person said that they were not happy but others said that they were very happy living in the home.

Most people enjoyed the food and said that they had a choice of meals. We saw that food was cooked from fresh ingredients.

There were activities provided but not all people wanted to participate and people's wishes were respected.

Staff appeared motivated and said that they were supported but felt that the numbers of staff on duty at night were insufficient.

We found the environment to be in need of updating and repair and we were told there was a plan being considered for the refurbishment of some areas of the home.

There was a lack of quality assurance processes in place to monitor the quality of the service provided.

31 October 2012

During a routine inspection

We spoke with two people who used the service and two relatives of people living in the home. People told us they were able to make choices regarding aspects of their care. For example, one person told us if the meal being served was not to their liking they could ask for an alternative meal.

We saw the care plans were written in a person centred way. The care plans contained guidance for staff about the way each person wished to be supported and cared for.

Prior to our inspection, we checked our central database for any reports about safeguarding. There were no allegations of abuse reported to us since the provider registered with us. We checked with the local authority who would be responsible for leading any investigations about safeguarding matters. The local authority also confirmed there were also no reports of this nature.

We saw the provider had a robust system in place for dealing with feedback and complaints.
