During a routine inspection

The relatives that we spoke to on the day of our visit were very happy with the way the service provider met the needs of their relative.

They told us about the sensitivity with which their relatives needs were met by the staff team, who were described as "caring" and really supportive".

We observed the calm, relaxed manner with which staff supported the people living at the home, with their personal care needs, including meals and drinks and personal activities.

People that we spoke to who lived at the home told us about about how good the care was that they received, and how staff met all of their needs. People made positive comments about the range of activities and choice of food provided.

We found that before people received any care they were asked for their consent and the provider acted in accordance with their wishes.

Deprivation of liberty safeguards we observed indicated that the provider deprived the person of their liberty in a safe, correct way. It was only done in the person's best interests where there was no other way to look after them.

We found that the provider had a medication policy and procedure in place for trained staff which covered: medication assessment; administration; recording; dealing with medication errors; training; monitoring; and mechanisms for review.

The unit manager carried out a monthly audit to ensure the safe provision of medications at the home.

There were 15 people using the service at the time of this review. We spoke with six people and two of their relatives to gain their views of the service.

People told us they were involved in making decisions about their care, treatment and

daily routines.

We saw positive interaction between people in the home and staff. We observed that staff

showed care and concern for people and treated them with respect.

People and relatives told us they were happy with the care provided. People said "I like it here", "it's homely", and "I'm well looked after".
